Starship Troopers star Casper Van Dien has recently expressed that he would like Robert Rodriguez to direct the TV reboot. Rodriguez has directed the successful movie We Can Be Heroes, an epic episode of The Mandalorian, and more.
Van Dien originally played Johnny Rico in the 1997 adaptation of Robert Heinlein’s “classic sci-fi novel”. He then returned in 2008’s direct to video Starship Troopers 3: Marauder. There have been reports that Starship Troopers would come back to TV; this information was shared by screenwriter Ed Neumeier in early 2019.
Van Dien stated in a recent interview:
“I would love it if Robert Rodriguez was in the mix. I would love it and I think he would be the perfect guy for it.”
