Sometimes even Superman’s Pal James Olsen has to get on with his life. Even if it means leaving behind family to do it. In this case, it was announced that Supergirl regular Mehcad Brooks, who has played James Olsen since the show’s inception, is leaving mid-season.
This was a consensual decision as Brooks is departing to pursue other opportunities, including a book he is writing. While his departure is a sad moment for show runners Robert Rovner and Jessica Queller, they are supportive of the actor’s decision. In addition, they want him to know he always has a place in the Supergirl family.
We love Mehcad and we’re sad to see him leave the show as a series regular, but we’re excited for both Mehcad and James Olsen’s future. He’ll always be a part of our Supergirl family and we look forward to James returning to National City at some point to visit his sister and his super friends.
