Somethings in the water over at the DC Universe. We get a very very scary start when three guys decided to mess with the wrong swamp. They meet their demise in a very twisted sick but visually cool way.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”22802″ img_size=”900×500″ alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]The best part about the opening is that you never see Swamp Thing but you feel his presence all the same. We see the affect of some kind of sickness manifest in a young girl which results in the return of Abby Arcane (Crystal Reed) as she vows to return home and stop this epidemic before it has any chance of spreading. We see Abby isn’t to fond of returning home because of memories she’s haunted by, her search for answers for the cure that will save this young girl brings her to cross paths with Alex Holland (Andy Bean) who claims he can help her solve the mystery.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”22800″ img_size=”900×500″ alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]They find the body of one of the men who died at the beginning only to experience the supernatural when the tree inside him starts to grow out of his body! Insane but what makes this even more intriguing is that we see this wakes the sick young girl who in turn seeks out the entity, her scream upon seeing it causes her to scream which them seems to strike the bound between the two of them. [/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”22798″ img_size=”900×500″ alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]That is right before she passes out, Abby seeks out a friend for help figuring out what’s going on when she’s approached by Mariah Sunderland (Virginia Madsen) who definitely has a bone to pick with Abby. Mariah is definitely not a fan of Abby and puts a lot of blame about the loss of her daughter at the feet of Abby, she ultimately gives Abby her permission to stay in town with the vow that she will the young girls life and leave immediately after.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”22799″ img_size=”900×500″ alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]With curiosity peaking Abby and Alex to go to the swamp where the three men disappeared gives them answers and trouble, Alex is shot and almost killed by a mysterious man but then seemingly saved by The Swamp. Abby goes to find Alex only to come face to face with The Swamp Thing! Episode one was so much fun and if that’s any indication episode two and beyond will be a hell of a ride.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”22801″ img_size=”900×500″ alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]Swamp Thing is a hard contender for DC Universe’s best show. That is not a easy feat especially since Titans and Doom Patrol are great shows as well. James Wan’s touch can be felt on this series and there is just something special even with the first episode. Time will tell how the series evolves but if the first episode is any indication of the quality then I’d say this is for sure another winner. The practical effects and set pieces are brilliant and beautiful. You can tell they put a lot of time and effort into this show. Make sure you check out Swamp Thing on May 31.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
