The end of our world is the beginning of his. Ten years ago “The Great Crumble” wreaked havoc on the world and led to the mysterious emergence of hybrids — babies born part human, part animal. Unsure if hybrids are the cause or result of the virus, many humans fear and hunt them. After a decade of living safely in his secluded forest home, a sheltered hybrid deer-boy named Gus unexpectedly befriends a wandering loner named Jepperd. Together Gus and the Big Man set out on an extraordinary adventure across what’s left of America in search of answers — about Gus’s origins, Jepperd’s past, and the true meaning of home. But their story is full of unexpected allies and enemies, and Gus quickly learns the lush, dangerous world outside the forest is more complex than he ever could have imagined.

Video Quality
Sweet Tooth: The Complete First Season arrives on Blu-Ray with a sumptuous AVC encoded 1080p transfer in its original broadcast ratio of 2.20:1. This framing along with the striking cinematography gives the show a cinematic quality that you love to see in a modern series. Nothing about this series feels cheap, as you are introduced to an entire world that feels fully realized. The color palette is robust with some magical instances of gorgeous colors popping off the screen. Black levels are deep and give way to an excellent amount of detail in shadows.
You will lose yourself in the world that is crafted with such care, as all of the subtle details in the production design are easily identifiable. Skin tones appear very natural and textured across the entire cast throughout the season. The special effects employed throughout are top notch and perfectly rendered here. There are no egregious instances of aliasing or compression artifacts detectable in this transfer. The Blu-Ray is a visual treat as it brings a meticulously crafted series to life in a gorgeous manner. You could scarcely ask for better from the medium.
Audio Quality
This Blu-Ray comes with a dynamic DTS-HD 5.1 Master Audio track that brings this unique world to stunning life. The spatial awareness of the track is frankly tremendous, and the panning techniques are used to great effect to feel fully immersed in the experience. Ambient sounds are precisely placed in the rear channels for maximum effect. The emotionally moving series music from Jeff Grace should be highlighted for how much it aids the experience of the series. His work perfectly sets the tone for the story, and it creates a nicely enveloping sound that draws you further into the show. Dialogue comes through crisp and clear without being overwhelmed by the powerful score or any sound effects. Action sequences and more kinetic moments are given the appropriate weight in the mix with a forceful showing in the low end. The audio presentation is everything you want and more. There are optional English SDH subtitles provided.

Final Thoughts
Sweet Tooth is one of the most rewarding efforts from DC television that we have seen in some time. We love superheroes, but there is something special about experiencing a story that is fresh and inventive. The care put into crafting this series is readily apparent in every frame, which allows the audience to sink deeper into this world. The performances are very strong across the board, and the pacing of the journey is impeccable. The new Blu-Ray set offers a pretty excellent A/V presentation but nothing in the way of special features. If you want something new and exciting for your television viewing pleasure, add this one to the list. Highly Recommended

Dillon is most comfortable sitting around in a theatre all day watching both big budget and independent movies.
