Taika Waititi Potentially in Talks For Undisclosed Marvel Film

Since the James Gunn firing, I’ve been spewing out my opinion in regards to who should be the new director to take up the mantle for the future of Guardians of the Galaxy. Taika Waititi is at the top of my list. As the man who essentially saved the Thor franchise, Waititi is a huge asset to Marvel. The problem is, there are no plans for a fourth Thor film and Chris Hemsworth’s contract ends after Avengers 4. So, where does any of that leave room to keep Waititi in the MCU where he is needed and wanted?

According to sources at THR, Waititi has met with Marvel for an undisclosed movie. Now, sources say that production on Guardians of the Galaxy 3 have been halted. Those involved in pre-production have been told to find new work, as Marvel is taking time to “regroup” and figure out where they want to go. Is it possible that Waititi was meeting with Marvel about the possibility of directing GotG Vol 3?

We’re not entirely sure if this is the case, as such MCU directors like Waititi, Jon Favreau, and the Russo brothers were previously ruled out due to prior commitments. But, could this be the reason Waititi was meeting with Marvel and why GotG 3 was halted? To maybe make room on their schedule for the Thor: Ragnarok director to take on the third volume of Gotg? This is all speculation!

What are your thoughts? Would you like Taika Waititi to direct Guardians of the Galaxy 3, another Thor film, or a different MCU project entirely?
