Taika Waititi Talks Natalie Portman’s Return and How She Is “Not Female Thor”

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”27182″ img_size=”900×500″ alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]Taika Waititi did wonders for the Thor franchise when he breathed new life into the character with Thor: Ragnarok. Just as he renewed Chris Hemsworth’s desire to play Thor, he is also bringing in another actor who seemingly was done with the MCU.

Natalie Portman was not only announced that she was coming back for Thor: Love and Thunder at SDCC, but that she would also be Thor. Waititi spoke with ET to make sure that people knew that we still have Hemsworth’s Thor and no, she’s not “female Thor”:

“[She’s] a Thor. There’s still the other Thor, the original Thor [played by Chris Hemsworth]. She’s not called Female Thor. In the comics, she’s called the Mighty Thor. …Couldn’t be more happy and excited.”

Kevin Feige had also previously told ET that when he and Waititi pitched the idea to Portman, she was all in:

“When Taiki had this idea and pitched it to her, she was in right away.”

We had all presumed Portman was done after Thor: The Dark World, but just as it seemed Gwyneth Paltrow had been done by her absence in Captain America: Civil War, the MCU has brought in new talent to be behind these movies and thus make them more appealing for actors.

How do you feel about Portman returning and being the Mighty Thor?[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
