Taika Waititi To Voice Classic Star Wars Character In ‘The Mandalorian’

When Jon Favreau revealed that IG-88 would be making an appearance in his new Star Wars series The Mandalorian, he never mentioned if it would be a major role or much of anything else. If nothing else, Favreau knows how to build suspense. We also knew that Thor Ragnarok Director Taika Waititi would be directing an episode for the Disney+ streaming service. Now it has been revealed that not only will Waititi be directing but will also be stepping behind the mike to supply the voice of the aforementioned IG-88.

Waititi had previously hinted that that he would be appearing as “someone attached to Boba Fett.” It is now been made clear who he was talking about. As described by StarWars.Com, IG-88 is an assassin droid, “independently programmed mechanical killers that had no masters.” Since The Mandalorian is reportedly aiming for a western vibe, it certainly makes sense that a rogue bounty hunter would seem like a perfect fit for the series. With Taikiti’s sense of humor and unique talent, this could be fun character to watch.
