Tank Girl was originally a comic co-created by Alan Martin that was adapted into the 1995 movie that starred Lori Petty. Now, it seems that we may have another Tank Girl in development. Martin tweeted the following out:
Just heard that Margot Robbie's company have optioned rights from MGM to make a new Tank Girl movie – now several months into development. We haven't been contacted by any of the parties involved with the project, so not sure if there will be any input from the original creators. pic.twitter.com/7RxbV4qLFt

It is interesting that this tidbit of information is just something that Martin heard and wasn’t consulted about. We will have to see if this is something that comes to fruition and what a modern-day Tank Girl entails. In the comics, Tank Girl is a dystopic character who is considered an outlaw due to her sexual behavior and substance abuse. Tank Girl is often depicted as farting, spitting, vomiting, and other punk rock attributes that will be interesting to see on screen in this new era.
