With Oscars season behind us, Geek Vibes Nation is proud to announce the winners of the
2024 GVN Critics Choice Awards. In our second year of voting, 50 unique films were nominated
across 30 categories. As expected, Oppenheimer led the pack with a strong 9 wins, including
Best Picture, Best Director for Christopher Nolan, and Best Actor for Cillian Murphy. The film
also took home our GVN Audience Award. Behind that is Barbenheimer counterpart Barbie with five wins, including Best Original Song for “What Was I Made For?” and Achievement in
Comedy. Sitting behind those frontrunners are American Fiction, John Wick: Chapter 4, and
Godzilla Minus One, each with two wins respectively.

In a repeat of last year’s voting cycle, 15 additional films were recognized with wins: Killers of
the Flower Moon, The Holdovers, Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret., The Boy and The
Heron, Past Lives, Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse, American Symphony, Anatomy of a
Fall, Priscilla, and Scream VI. Across these many award-winning films, and the esteemed
runner-ups, include a number of female-identifying and POC storytellers who we are incredibly
happy to recognize amidst an awards season that often neglects them.

The GVN CCA voting body consists of the over 30 critics currently contributing to Geek Vibes
Nation. Each voter was given access to a secure, private voting link in which they were given
the opportunity to vote for films and talent using a personalized ballot. These ballots were then
tabulated through a preferential voting system. We appreciate all of our many readers, listeners,
and followers who have helped grow Geek Vibes Nation to the point that these awards are even
possible. A special thank you to our incredible team of writers, podcasters, and editors, who
help make our site what it is today.
