.Isaiah Wright has some growing up to do. A year out of high school with no plans for his future, Isaiah is challenged by his single mom and a successful businessman to start charting a better course for his life. Through the biblical discipleship from his new mentor, prayers of his mother and a prayer warrior named Miss Clara, Isaiah begins to discover God’s purpose for his life is so much more than he could hope for or imagine. From the Kendrick Brothers, the creators of the No. 1 hit WAR ROOM, comes THE FORGE, a faith-filled new movie with familiar friends and inspiring new twists.

    Video Quality

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment brings The Forge to Blu-Ray with a rock-solid 1080p video presentation that is as pristine as a modern movie should look on the format. The image is crisp and clear with a brilliant color palette that saturates the frame. The film serves up notable splashes of colors within the costumes, production design, and locales which adds welcome vibrancy to the screen. Black levels are stable with no obvious instances of digital noise or crush, and highlights are firm with no blooming at play. The skin tones remain natural and consistent with a favorable amount of detail present in close-ups. The modern production design along with the fabrics of clothing provide robust textural details. The presentation delivers a good amount of depth on display both in the interior shots and when outside. This Blu-Ray delivers on every level of quality.

    Audio Quality

This Blu-Ray comes with a great DTS-HD 5.1 Master Audio track that conjures every minor element with a steady hand. The low end of the track is not a scene-stealer, but it comes alive when it needs to. The dialogue shines without being clipped by any parallel sounds. Some dynamic moments sneak up on you and engage the surround speakers well. There is a nuanced stream of ambient details expanding the setting. The score establishes the appropriate tone as it flows from the speakers in a full, well-balanced way. The audio track is a top-tier presentation for this feature in all respects. Optional English, English SDH, French, and Spanish subtitles are provided.

    Special Features

    • Audio Commentary: The Kendrick Brothers: Alex Kendrick and Stephen Kendrick
    • The Making of The Forge: A 16-minute featurette in which the cast and creative team discuss continuing the story of characters from The War Room, the visual effects work, meeting new characters, the themes of this story, and more.
    • Discipleship In The Forge: A six-minute look at the role of mentorship in the film and how this can be formed into a relationship with The Lord.
    • The Heart of The Forge: A five-minute exploration of the production in Georgia, the work of the Kendrick brothers, and more.

    Final Thoughts

The Forge is sure to be a major hit for a faith-based audience looking for a film that represents their values, but those who do not have a particular affinity for religion are unlikely to find much else of value with this one. The ensemble delivers what they need for this material, but no one is given material that demands that they tap into something universally resonant. The filmmakers behind this project have found a niche that speaks to an underrepresented group in the cinematic landscape, and they once again have delivered for that audience. Sony Pictures has provided a Blu-Ray disc that sports a fantastic A/V presentation and an impressive array of supplements.

The Forge will be available to purchase on Blu-Ray and DVD on December 3, 2024. The film is currently available on Digital.
