The Haunting of Hill House Netflix Review

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Netflix has been killing it lately with Castlevania, The Night Comes at Us, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, Daredevil Season 3, but today we are going to talking about the amazing Haunting of Hill House. Haunting of Hill House is about a family confronting their terrifying past by going back to the house that started everything.

Mike Flanagan, who has directed Gerald’s Game, Ouija: Origin of Evil, and Hush, did a fantastic job directing all ten episode. I usually can give something negative about someone directing, but with this, I can’t. Mike Flanagan perfected the sense of timing; with every reveal there were so many what the f*** moments for me that I couldn’t keep up, I had to take my time with this series which doesn’t happen to me at all the only series that made me take a break was Game of Thrones and that is my favorite tv series. The storytelling was simple, but the way he directs it makes it feels fresh. This is a great example that everything doesn’t have to be new to be fresh.

One of the biggest things that stuck out to me is the production design. If it was either the past or the present the aesthetic of the series was spot on and it still had that consistent eerieness to it. At first, I didn’t know why I kept seeing the same scenes over and over again; but later into the series, around episode four, I understood why Mike Flanagan did that and I thought it was genius, but it did feel repetitive at times.

There’s a lot to talk about the characters, so we can do a spoiler talk in the comments or on our twitter page https://twitter.com/GeekVibesNation. I will say this the actors were magnificent in this series, but they are some characters that I could not stand. By the choices, they make or their attitudes and mannerisms. Don’t get me wrong the characters were written well to serve the story, but with some of the characters, I just wanted to slap them so bad.

There is a certain episode where the family meets up and my god the cinematography was breathe taking granted the cinematography throughout the series was brilliant, but this episode was on a whole other level.

Overall The Hunting of Hill House is a great horror story with fantastic, yet annoying characters, amazing cinematography and beautiful Production Design.

Score: A+
