During one such press junket, she was asked by Yahoo Entertainment if she would be interested in playing Batgirl. This question made sense, especially since The Kitchen’s Director Andrea Berloff is heading the project. Surprisingly, she mentioned another more obscure character was in her sights.
I’d rather be Wonder Woman’s sister, Nubia.
Haddish obviously had done some research into the character as she even knew when Nubia first appeared. Nubia made her premier in the 1973 Wonder Woman# 203. (She is better than me cause I had no idea.) The character of Nubia was created by Robert Kanigher and Don Heck. She was introduced as Wonder Woman’s long-lost twin sister. In later issues, it was explained that the warrior was sculpted from clay alongside Wonder Woman by their mother, Queen Hippolyta. However, Nubia was taken by Mars, the God of War, shortly after being brought to life.
Needless to say, the character of Nubia has not made any appearances outside the comics. However, it was thought that she might have been in the plans for an appearance in Linda Carter’s version of Wonder Woman. As it is, she was one of the first black superheroines and would make a welcome addition to the DC film lore.
