The Mandalorian Chapter 12: Carl Weathers Delivers The Action In Directorial Debut

Everyone say thank you to Carl Weathers. I got to watching the latest episode of The Mandalorian and I am unhappy that I took so long to watch it! What started as looking like a filler episode turned out to be one of the most important of the series. On top of that, it was also responsible for giving us one of the best chase scenes in the Star Wars universe. There was a lot to unpack.

Slight Spoilers

Let’s get the most important out of the way. Baby Yoda was adorable. He wanted some snacky snacks and honestly, it was a mood. I too would use the Force to grab some space macaroons out of someone’s hands who refused to give me some. The Child and Mando had a lot of endearing moments and it is honestly going to break my heart the day Din Djarin doesn’t have Baby Yoda by his side. What are we, as the viewers going to do?

There was a reunion of characters from season one. Of course, Weathers reprised his role as Greef Karga and Gina Carano returned as Cara Dune. On top of them, the Mythrol from the first episode in season one returned. There was something so cool seeing the original gang get back together. There were a lot of callbacks to season one. It was also great to see Nevarro’s state after Greef Karga and Cara Dune have cleaned up the city.

I also was excited to see Omid Abtahi return as Dr. Pershing – even if it was just in a hologram. Apparently, Abtahi was as well!

So, we have this episode concentrate on Kreef and Cara, which was pretty cool. The coolest thing though was the scene of the Stormtroopers on their speederbikes. Holy shit. It really was so awesome and probably one of the best chase, battle scenes in The Mandalorian. The moment where…well, not me not spoil what happens. But, it was so visually well-done and I believe this is Weathers’ first thing he’s directed? I could be wrong, Wikipedia only says The Mandalorian. So, if I’m wrong, let me know.

Rating: 4.5/5

What made Chapter 12 so great was what it foreshadowed at the end. All of the episodes have been fun so far, but this episode really feels like the first one that has really touched upon the real plot of the season. I’m so utterly excited to see where this leads to and yea…this episode was just great!
