The Mandalorian Chapter 5 Review – A New Character Is Introduced Plus A Familiar Planet Returns

The Mandolorian Chapter 5: The Gunslinger (Spoilers)

Wow, we are almost done with The Mandalorian, just three more episodes left until the season finale of The Mandalorian and two more episodes left until the release of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. Let me tell you this is the time to be a Star Wars Fan!

In Chapter five of The Mandalorian, we start with a Space battle, which was an effective way to start the chapter; it lets us know that there are still bounty hunters following Dyn to kill Baby Yoda and it was a bad ass sequence where we see Dyn struggle a little bit. Dyn’s ship is seriously damaged in this battle and is forced to land a the closest planet, Tatooine!

Yes! We finally get to visit Anakin’s Homeworld, where the infamous Sarlacc Pitt is located, and the hiding place of Luke Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi! And since Dave Filoni is directing this episode, you know he has a reason for Dyn Jerren to be there; maybe to let us know that Boba Fett is still alive?😏

Anyway, in the next scene, Dyn lands on a repair area owned by Peli Motto, played by Amy Sedaris. And we get to see Pit Droids and let me tell you they are hilarious. As soon as they showed up on the screen, I smiled and chuckled; If you did not know I love the Pit droids! The dynamic between Dyn and Peli felt organic, and to be honest, the show is filled with fantastic chemistry, but with these two, it felt different from the other characters the Dyn has encountered.

If I were to choose one aspect of this episode that was mind-blowing, it would be aesthetic. Tatooine as a planet is just all sand and dull-looking, but when it changes from day-night the atmosphere, the environment feels different, and it makes the place we see all the time feel new and refreshing

Fennec Shand, played by Ming-Na Wen, I thought, was a pretty bad ass character, but as cool as Cara Dune? I don’t think so, but she is a character I would like to see come back. That brings me to my negative with the show as a whole. We get all these fantastic characters, but we only get to see them one ore twice, and that is due to the run time of the show and the number of episodes. Hopefully next season they can raise the budget or find away we can get longer event because it feels like it’s missing something, but this complaint can be because I’m spoiled from shows like Game of Thrones, Euphoria, and many others.
