While many fans believed this was just a rumor, it appears to be true: The Mandalorian & Grogu are headed to the big screen.
The news was posted on the official Star Wars and The Mandalorian Twitter/X pages with a caption that reads, “The Mandalorian and Grogu are headed to the big screen. Directed by Jon Favreau, and produced by Favreau, Kathleen Kennedy, and Dave Filoni, The Mandalorian and Grogu will go into production later this year.” You can check out the Twitter/X posts below:

Directed by Jon Favreau, and produced by Favreau, Kathleen Kennedy, and Dave Filoni, The Mandalorian & Grogu will go into production later this year.

When speaking about bringing these characters to the big screen Favreau said, “I have loved telling stories set in the rich world that George Lucas created. The prospect of bringing the Mandalorian and his apprentice Grogu to the big screen is extremely exciting.”
Kathleen Kennedy added, “Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni have ushered into Star Wars two new and beloved characters, and this new story is a perfect fit for the big screen.”
In addition to the news that this project is getting the big screen treatment, it was also announced that The Mandalorian and Grogu will lead Lucasfilm’s film development slate which also includes projects directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, James Mangold, and Dave Filoni.
