SPOILER ALERT: This article contains spoilers for The Mandalorian season 3 episode 2
Oh, my Mythosaur! This episode was crazy good; one of the biggest moments in Star Wars just happened today and that’s finally seeing The Great Mythosaur. Just like Bo-Katan, I was left in pure shock, and I can imagine every Star Wars fan was equally as shocked!
I’m getting ahead of myself right now – let’s start from the beginning of the episode. If I’m being honest, the least exciting part of The Mandalorian is basically every scene with Peli Motto, but I do understand her worth within the show. Even though her character is annoying, she is someone who helps out Din in between his journey.

Rachel Morrison directed “The Mines of Mandalore,” and we are so lucky that she landed this important episode and hit it out of the park with the Great Mythosaur’s first appearance in canon. Throughout the entire episode, you can feel how tense it was through Grogu. Morrison did a great job directing. I’m curious if the whole time Grogu was scared because he sensed the Mythosaur, If so, it was very subtle.
“This was once a beautiful civilization. My family ruled it all. Now it’s a tomb.” – Bo-Katan
There was this quote Katee Sackhoff said about Din being annoying and a burden to her that I like. She says, “I think, at this point, that she sees him as a burden. He is just that annoying person who won’t go away.” That quote really resonates during this episode especially when she thought that Din was coming back. She didn’t want to see him at all. But, at the same time, she does feel responsible for him; that’s why she rushed to save him without any hesitation. Bo-Katan is like that big sister figure to Din and it is too cute.
I have this feeling people will complain about how Din was used during this episode. Being used as a damsel might not rub some people the wrong way, but I will argue that it was needed at some point to show that he can also be vulnerable and he has to rely on his allies. Giving Grogu some development and seeing Bo-Katan in action again, it was definitely worth seeing Din in some trouble.

Overall this was an exciting episode. That fact that the legends are no longer legends just gets my blood pumping. Rachel Morrison did a wonderful job directing “The Mines of Mandalore.” Grogu and Bo-Katan were definitely the stars of this episode. Damn, what a crazy episode!
“These mines date back to the age of the first Mandalore. According to ancient folklore, the mines were once a Mythosaur lair. Mandalore the Great is said to have tamed the mythical beast. It is from these legends that the skull signet was adaopted and became the symbol of our planet.” – Bo-Katan
The Mandalorian is currently streaming on Disney+ with new episodes debuting every Wednesday.
