Chapter 20 of The Mandalorian is the worst of season three so far and yet it is still a good chapter. The primary deficiency of this particular episode is the writing. There are moments in this chapter that do not make sense. Otherwise, it was a great episode – nice action set pieces, great development from Grogu, and Din being a worthy father figure to Grogu.
To expand a bit on why some of the writing is at its weakest, we have to pick apart some head-shaking moments. For a bunch a warriors, they make a lot of mistakes on a consistent basis when it comes to location and defensive maneuvers against different elements. In episode one we see a monster attack them, which is understandable since it is the first attack that we’ve seen. But it happens again, and yet there are no protective measures in this episode for the creature in the water.

Also in this episode we are introduced to another creature, but not by water – it is a creature that flies. The issue with this moment is that it is explained that this happened multiple times since they arrived to this planet. Why hasn’t anyone in the clan tried to get supplies from other worlds to strengthen their own defenses if they were going to stay in the same location?
Don’t Worry. My Dad Was The Same Way. He’s Just Proud of You. You Take It Easy On Him, Kid.
Other than that, there’s so many great moments. Bo-Katan is showing even more interest in the cult than she realizes, also seeing her in charge of the search and rescue party fit her character. This show is slowly leaning towards Bo-Katan, which is really good to see. It was also so much fun to see Grogu attempt his first challenge to rise up in ranks.

Carl Weathers does a great job directing everyone, creating a fun and exciting atmosphere that distracts from the failures in the writing. His ability to work with the team is really good. At this point, he should be one of the directors to be chosen to help with the films if he’s up for the job. He has the skill as proven in this episode and previous episodes.
Bo-Katan Kryzie, You Have Honored Your House And All Of Mandalore. You Have Done The Highest Honor Of The Creed.
Overall, this wasn’t the best episode The Mandalorian has produced, but even still it does a great job in many categories. It gives us great chemistry between characters, showing off teamwork.
