[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”22194″ img_size=”618×412″ alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]It’s been two years since Shia LaBeouf’s film The Peanut Butter Falcon was first announced. The winner of the Audience Award at the SXSW Film Festival on March 9th, the film has been bought by Roadside Attractions and will be distributed on August 9th of this year. The Peanut Butter Falcon was written and directed by Tyler Nilson and Michael Schwartz and features LaBeouf as a small-time outlaw who stars along Zack Gottsagen, who is a young man with Down Syndrome.

The two run away from a nursing home as they follow Gottsagen’s dream of becoming a professional wrestler and attending the wrestling school of The Salt Water Redneck (Thomas Haden Church) – his idol. LaBeouf will become an unlikely coach for the boy as the two have to contend with eluding capture, finding God, and catching fish. Dakota Johnson plays a nursing home employee to join them on their journey. Bruce Dern, Jon Bernthal, John Hawkes, and Yelawolf also star in this film.

The Peanut Butter Falcon was specifically written for Gottsagen after Schwartz and Nilson met him at a camp for disabled actors. Having been inspired by his fierce determination to make it as a star in Hollywood, they decided to make this film, and it’s great that it will finally be shown to the public on August 9, 2019.
