The Russo Brothers Stepping Away from the MCU (For Now) After Avengers: Endgame

Ever since Captain America: The Winter Soldier, The Russo Brothers have been helping guide the MCU throughout some of its best storylines. Tasked with the massive team-ups movies, Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame; it’s hard to think anyone would be better at tackling the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But, just like Christopher Nolan said goodbye to Batman after The Dark Knight Rises, Anthony and Joe Russo will be saying goodbye to Marvel after Endgame, at least for now.

Anthony Russo stated to GamesRadar:

“It’s our Endgame, at least for now. We don’t have any plans for now to make any more Marvel movies. It certainly may come up in the future at some point. We have a wonderful working relationship with [Marvel Studios] and a great passion for what they’re doing.”

It is understandable that after taking on these two huge movies back to back, tasked with wrapping a bow on the last ten years of the MCU; that the brothers would want to take a break from the superhero realm. They are, however; teaming back up with a fellow Marvel co-star. Anthony reveals:

“We’re going to shift gears and direct a much smaller movie this summer with Tom Holland called Cherry, which is loosely based on a real story about a veteran of the Iraq War, who suffers from PTSD… gets a heroin addiction and ends up robbing banks to sustain that addiction.”

Do you have plans to see Avengers: Endgame this weekend and how do you feel about The Russo Brothers stepping away from the MCU?
