If you’re a video game lover, you’ll probably have noticed that some of your favourite characters have a pretty unique style and this often involves them wearing a particular pair of sunglasses. After all, although the main purpose of sunglasses is to protect our eyes from harmful UV rays, they’ve also now become a must-have fashion accessory for everyone. We’ve put together a list of some of the most famous characters and their shades and if you’re planning to steal their style, you can save money on all your eyewear purchases with a Ray Ban discount code.

Designer Sunglasses have also become a major part of modern pop culture and gaming-inspired fashion, blending high-end style with bold character identity. From luxury frames seen on celebrities to iconic looks directly inspired by video game legends, designer sunglasses now sit at the intersection of entertainment and everyday wear. They allow fans to channel the attitude of their favourite characters while still keeping things practical, stylish, and contemporary.

    Duke Nukem

When you think of famous video game characters and sunglasses, this might be the first personality that comes to mind. Duke Nukem is famous for his sunglasses, which he’s been wearing from the start of the series, and he doesn’t even take them off at night! As the protagonist of this popular series, he has to maintain his bold and powerful image and these shades certainly help. If you’re wondering exactly what glasses they are, it’s believed that they are classic Wayfarers from Ray-Ban.

    Eggman, Sonic the Hedgehog

Eggman, from the Sonic the Hedgehog series has an unusual choice of sunglasses. They’re based on the old-fashioned pince-nez glasses which are characterized by the absence of arms. They are intended to sit on your nose, and thanks to his rather large nose, Eggman is able to pull off this vintage look. You can find classic as well as more modern styles of both reading glasses and sunglasses in this style, such as the armless collection from Ombraz, with a practical, removable cord.

    Albert Wesker, Resident Evil

This cool villain from the Resident Evil series is rarely seen without his staple sunglasses which add a sleek, mystical tone to his image. The Sunset range from Selectspecs has a great selection of different shapes and colours, including classic black ones, in a collection of shades that are strikingly similar to that of the composed Resident Evil star.

    Johnny Cage, Mortal Kombat

Johnny is another one of our favourite characters that just wouldn’t look right without his sunglasses. This action movie star is an expert in martial arts and the hero’s image is said to be based on that of actor Jean-Claude Van Damme. The most similar glasses that you can find today are probably from the Holbrook collection by Oakley, so try these out if you want to grab yourself some of Johnny’s confident style.

    Roy Koopa, Super Mario Bros

He’s one of the older Koopaling siblings and wears a unique pair of shades that really make him stand out. In fact, you may have noticed his glasses before even figuring out what animal he is! In fact, one of his nicknames is ‘the one with the sunglasses’ and it’s not hard to see why. He wears a pair of striking, magenta sunnies, in an almost cat-eye shape in one of the most popular video game series of all time. A similar pair of shades are the Women’s Narrow Retro Cat Eye Sunglasses available at zeroUV.

If your favourite characters aren’t mentioned here, it may be that they’re not known for their sunglasses. Whether you prefer heroes or villains, we’ve seen hundreds of popular video game characters over the years. The images of classic personalities are sometimes updated, and new and unusual ones are always making their way into the world of video gaming. If you want to find if your top characters are mentioned and where they are ranked, check out this list of the best video game characters of all time.
