With Netflix’s The Umbrella Academy just dropping its fourth and final season, there’s no better time to speak with some of the talent! Our friends over at the KJ Today Show spoke with star Tom Hopper, who has played the main character Luther for four seasons. Below is a transcript of that interview:
Disclaimer: this interview is from two years ago, right after the end of season three.

TOM HOPPER: Hey, KJ. How are you?
KJ: Oh, my gosh. So excited to be talking with you this morning. Fans are so excited for Season 4 of The Umbrella Academy. Can you share any hopes that you have for Luther’s Future before the show comes to an end?
TOM HOPPER: Yeah, I mean it’s very interesting because I mean we end up knowing a little as you guys do as fans of the show, as we find these things out. You know, like when we shot the end of that season last year, we were like, what does this all mean? Like, what’s going on here? So we went completely in the dark. And then as we find out that we’re doing the fourth season, until we get like a season breakdown from Steve Blackman, our marvelous showrunner, we’re kind of clueless. I don’t know whether Sloane’s in the next season or not. So, obviously, after he’s been married, that’s going to be a big part of it. I’d like to see him… I hope he’s not too down in the dumps. You know, I hope he’s not too miserable if Sloane isn’t there. Apart from that, you know, I always keep a very open mind, because no matter what you do in terms of trying to guess what’s going to happen, as you can see from the beginning of Season 3, with the dance and the fight and the way that all went, there’s just no way you can guess which way Steve Blackman is going to take this show. So just sort of sit back and wait for him to tell you, because he’s going to take you on a ride no matter what. So either way, you know, it’s going to be exciting.
KJ: Are you hoping for another dance scene in season four? Is that fun for you?
TOM HOPPER: You know what? I went into the start of the season while I did the whole show thinking, well, thinking that I would not have to dance in the show. I had no idea that there was going to be such a massive dance component to it. Because the first time I read the script, the dance that we did in I Think You’re Alone Now dance wasn’t in there, in the initial one I read. So I had no idea that the huge dance component was going to be part of it. But I’m sort of now got to the point where I’m assuming there is going to be some kind of dance component every season. So I’m always, like, disappointed if there isn’t one now.
