The Walking Dead’s Danai Gurira Talks About Her Exit as Michonne

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”14934″ img_size=”800×450″ alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]Prior to Danai Gurira portraying the strong Wakandan warrior Okoye, she has been a staple of AMC’s The Walking Dead as Michonne. The sword-wielding badass has been a fan favorite since she graced our screens and while she is one of the few long-running characters left, even Gurira will be leaving the series in the upcoming season. This, though; has been very secret, unlike prior big names leaving like Andrew Lincoln. When on Jimmy Kimmel Live recently, Gurira stated [in regards to her TWD exit]:

Well, I will say, I can say as much about that as I can about Endgame. I have a pretty simple life, I can just tell nobody anything. Keeps life very simple.”

She added, when asked if she’s disclosed Michonne’s fate to those closest to her:

“Outside of the people who I work with? No. Heavens no. No, no, no,” she said. “What’s great is that they largely don’t want to know.”

Despite the fact that Michonne will only be in a handful of episodes in season ten, showrunner Angela Kang assures fans that Michonne will still have a “meaty” story to her:

“We are going to be doing some creative things with the order in which we write and shoot things so that she’s sort of woven in a little bit,” Kang told Deadline. “With Black PantherAvengers and plays of her own and everything, I think Danai obviously is having an amazing career moment. She’s like an international treasure.”

Are you sad that Gurira will be leaving The Walking Dead and are you excited to see more of Okoye in the MCU?
