[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”14869″ img_size=”800×450″ alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]Since James Gunn’s firing from Marvel, I have been championing for Thor: Ragnarok’s director Taika Waititi to take up the task of giving us Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Not only would his style of directing, visuals, and soundtrack be a perfect fit for Gunn’s script, but it all simply boils down to the fact that I’d love for Waititi to work on another Marvel film and I thought GotG Vol 3 would be a good platform for him to do so. Unfortunately, the director has heard other fans’ desire for this to happen and has recently stated that it won’t happen.
“Nope. Not doing that movie [GotG 3]. I’m hanging out with [Marvel] still. Talking about new stuff, but I don’t know what that might be yet. I want to do another movie.”
He continues:
“For me, that’s James’ film. Going into something like that, which has got his stamp all over it, it would feel like going into someone’s house and saying ‘Hey, I’m your new dad.”
I certainly understand what Waititi means, but Gunn is not returning to Marvel and no matter what, anyone taking up the third installment of the beloved Guardians franchise would essentially be doing the same thing. Whoever takes up this task will hopefully stay true to what has been set up prior and give us the trilogy that we have been waiting for. In the meantime, Gunn has been tasked with writing the script and directing the next Suicide Squad movie, titled The Suicide Squad, which has been labeled as a “relaunch” instead of a “sequel”.
