Titans Showrunner Talks About How Studio Determines Which Character Can Be In The Show

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”28442″ img_size=”900×500″ alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]DC Universe’s Titans returns soon and on top of the returning characters from season one, we have a lot of fresh faces. Joining the Titans are Aqualad, Superboy, Krypto, Ravager, Jericho, Bruce Wayne, Deathstroke, and more. The DC world has a lot of characters to choose from. How do you choose which ones that can be included? Titans have mentioned Wonder Woman and Batgirl, but could we ever see those characters in the series?

Showrunner Greg Walker spoke with Comicbook.com about how it’s determined which characters can be used:

“You know what’s funny about this, is a lot of times we have to go and throw out ideas and names to our partners at DC and Warner Bros. to see who is clear and sometimes, you never realize that there may be a movie coming out three years from now that has a character. So we have Brian Miller in the room, we have some really glorified comic personalities in there.

“They’ll throw out names and we’ll come up with a storyline, before we go too deep we have to call our partners at DC and they’ll be like ‘Ah no, that’s taken,’ or ‘No, no one thought about that,’ and Geoff Johns is a genius at that. I’ll leave it open that anything’s possible providing that we can make it through the DC, Warner Bros. matrix to get characters.”

To my best knowledge, shows like Titans and Doom Patrol exist separately from the movies, so it is interesting that an upcoming movie would affect who can be used. The CW has a Flash series, but we’re still getting a Flash movie with different actors and storyline. It is interesting, but also exciting that Titans is bringing on so many new characters.

Are you excited for Titans to return on September 6th?
