[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”19219″ img_size=”800×450″ alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]While we probably couldn’t think of a better actor than Tom Holland to play Peter Parker in the MCU, we have to give credit where credit is due. Tobey Maguire played Spider-Man for three movies and is still Spidey for many. Maguire’s career has been long, with a lot of memorable roles, and considering we are in an era that sees superhero films really dominating the big screen, we have to wonder if the actor would consider ever coming back to the realm and playing another superhero, either in the DCEU or Marvel Cinematic Universe.
An answer of sorts was given when a reporter from THR asked Maguire if he’d ever considered another superhero role.
MAGUIRE I just don’t really have an “I would or wouldn’t do” mindset. I’ll just do whatever. … Whatever it is that comes that I feel called to, that may or may not fit in any kind of box.
It’s important that an actor take a role because he wants to and feels that he can relate to the character they’re playing. If we can remember, for the longest Jake Gyllenhaal has been fan-cast in roles, but it’s only been until taking up the part of Mysterio in the upcoming Spider-Man: Far From Home that we will finally see him in a superhero movie. If Maguire is open to the idea, then it could only be a matter of time before something gravitates towards him and wouldn’t it be cool to have the original Spider-Man in the MCU?
Speaking of the other actors who have played Spider-Man, Maguire commented:
What do you think of the Spider-Man movies that came after you?
MAGUIRE I haven’t seen all of them. What I’ve seen, I’ve appreciated. I like both of the actors a ton. I think they’re both super talented. I would just say I appreciated them and I like the actors, I like the choices.
