Tom Hanks Was Deeply Touched By His Final Recordings For ‘Toy Story 4’

Earlier this year, Tim Allen had discussed how hard it was recording some scenes for Toy Story 4, stating he still got choked up thinking about the end of the film. Apparently, this sentiment is being echoed by the other part of the Toy Story dynamic duo, Tom Hanks. While appearing on the Chris Evans Breakfast Show, Hanks explained how the final recording was staged and what it meant to him as he realized the finality of it all.

The way you record Toy Story, you’re in a room with the team that has created it. When I went in for my last day of recording, I wanted to have my back to them, because usually you’re facing him so you can look right up and you can talk about it. But I didn’t want to see them and I wanted to pretend they couldn’t see me. When I realized what they were going for, I realized, ‘Oh, this is a moment in history.’

When Toy Story 4 was in its planning stages, it was developed as a love story. Woody and Buzz Lightyear were to go on a quest to find Bo Peep (who had been previously given away in a yard sale.) Since that time, a great deal has been changed and there are no guarantees that it is still the story line. However, Bo Peep actress Annie Potts has confirmed that she has a significant part and has recorded lines with Hanks. That might so that might lend credence to that possibility.
