Tom Holland Optimistic ‘Uncharted’ Will Be Successful Video Game Adaptation

When Tom Holland was announced as Nathan Drake for Sony’s Uncharted film, fans freaked. Most said Holland was too young and didn’t embody the look of Nathan Drake. Many fans wondered why fan favorite, Nathan Fillion wasn’t cast. Well as with most fan casts, we don’t always get what we want. And that’s ok cause Holland is a very good actor and I’m very interested to see how the film – if it ever gets going – turns out.

Holland spoke with IGN to give an update on the film and explain his optimism for adapting a video game into a film and it being successful.

“I think what Uncharted offers that most video games films don’t is that it’s an origin story to the games, So if you played the games, you haven’t seen what’s going to happen in the film. And if you haven’t played the games, you’re going to enjoy the film because it’s information that everyone else is getting at the same time. But I’m super excited to make that movie and it’s been a long time coming.”

Holland also shares praise for Joe Carnahan’s script saying it’s the best he has seen.

“I read the newest draft of the script on the way over here and it’s one of the best scripts I’ve ever read. It really, really jumps off the page.”

Mark Wahlberg who portrays Sully also got high praise as Tom stated he thinks Mark is going to kill it as Sully and that it’s going to be a lot of fun.

Filming on Uncharted is expected to get started next month and film until June before Tom begins filming Spider-Man 3.
