Tom Holland is making the press rounds as he promotes his new film, CHERRY, but of course he is answering some Spider-Man questions as well. This week the title was officially released as Spider-Man: No Way Home. While speaking with GQ, the actor was asked again about Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield being in the film to which Holland replied
“I knew you were going to ask me that. No, they are not on set. And neither of them are in this film. But I am being asked that question a lot. If you see a red dot on my head it’s a Sony or Marvel sniper about to blow my head off.”
Holland has been accused of spoiling things in the past and it has been a running gag ever since. Holland also announced that after he completes filming on Spider-Man: No Way Home he is no longer under contract.
“We haven’t got long filming now and it’s quite sad, because this is the end of my contract after this film is up, I really don’t know what the future holds, so I am just savouring every moment, as it could potentially be the last.”
I highly doubt Marvel is going to let Holland walk and the actor has said he would do 10 Spider-Man films if they wanted him to. Another key factor Holland says is keeping the core team together of director Jon Watts, Zendaya and Jacob Batalon.
“We’d need to keep the same core team. The director, Jon Watts, is as much Spider-Man as I am. Zendaya, Jacob [Batalon].”
Jon Watts, who has directed all three films, is set to move on to Marvel’s Fantastic Four. If they do bring back Watts for a fourth Spider-Man film then it means we won’t be getting one any time soon. That does not mean that Holland is done because there are tons of new Marvel films in the works that he could appear in.
Holland also shared some Spider-Man suit notes saying he wears a jockstrap/thong like thing under his suit.
“I wear a thong. Like a jockstrap thing. I have a thong and a mesh underlay suit and then the Spider-Man suit, made from very coarse material, goes over the top.”
Holland returns as Spider-Man on Christmas Day!
