This story will follow the tradition of Watchmen, The Dark Knight Returns, and DC: The New Frontier for a story that has blood, war, and love as its main themes. Adam Strange was introduced in 1958 in Showcase #17 and is the hero of the planet Rann. He is known for his bravery and honor.
Strange Adventures debuts in March of 2020. Things will not be all bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, as Adam had to make some decisions during his battle on Rann that will haunt him, his family, and threaten the DC universe.
Tom King commented:
“Adam Strange is one of a long line of characters—like Tarzan and Flash Gordon, stolid men with dimpled chins who thrive in ‘foreign lands’—who stand in as a metaphor for a 19th century European dream of colonialism. Of course, colonialism was nothing like this dream, and it’s that contrast that interests me: the bloody gap between the myth and the reality.”
There will also be a surprise DC character that must choose between saving Strange and the universe. King spoke:
“I wanted to tell two stories simultaneously and have them play off each other: the story we tell others and the story others tell about us. To represent these two aspects, we use two of the best artists in comics, then we weave those two tellings together in odd and new ways that I don’t think anyone’s seen in modern superhero comics. So it’s a way to do something new and different and hopefully something cool and compelling.”
Strange Adventures will include 28 pages in each issue for this 12-issue saga. Strange Adventures #1 will hit shelves on March 4, 2020, and cost $4.99.[/vc_column_text][vc_images_carousel images=”33122,33118,33117,33116,33115,33114,33113,33112″ img_size=”411×623″ speed=”3000″ autoplay=”yes” wrap=”yes”][/vc_column][/vc_row]
