Tomb Raider 2 Looking To Cast Diverse Co-Lead

UPDATE:

We have an update to this article as we have learned that Tomb Raider 2 is looking to cast a Latin American/Hispanic female for the co-lead role. This rules out Sam possibly being the character unless they change her race. They are still looking for a female in the 25+ age range as well. We will continue to update this story as we hear more. You can read the original article below.

Exclusive:

Filming on the next Tomb Raider is getting close (April). We have already dropped some news regarding the film incorporating more supernatural elements from the games and the film taking inspiration from Rise and Shadow of the Tomb Raider. Filming was set to take place in England, South Africa, Finland and Beijing but updated info shows the movie no longer filming in Finland or Beijing. Of course that could change as production info is always fluid.

Today we have learned that the film is looking to cast a female co-lead to Alicia Vikander’s Lara Croft. They are looking to cast a diverse actress between the age of 25-32. No other information was given at this time and we are not sure which actresses they might be looking to cast. Could this news mean that Samantha Nishimura might be joining the film? Sam is the best friend of Lara Croft and has appeared in the Tomb Raider (2013) video game and the Dark Horse Comics series.

Of course Sam is pure speculation and in no way confirmed but it makes you wonder. Who would you like to see join Tomb Raider 2? If it is Sam then who might you want to see cast? Perhaps Kelly Marie Tran? Share your thoughts with us in the comments below.
