Tony Todd is iconic when it comes to the Candyman series, but when it comes to Jordan Peele’s reboot, it’s looking like we aren’t going to get Todd back for his legendary role. Without any involvement on Todd’s part with the upcoming reboot, it seems that the seasoned actor was hoping that someone would have included him in the conversation, considering he’s been expressing for just about 20 years that he’d like to play the character again.
ok for the record was I hurt by not receiving a **** phonecall? absolutely. am I sincere about giving new #candyman my blessing. truth. the character is immortal. btw just received an offer to voice a worldwide documentary. so sometimes the spirits

A blessing from Tony Todd is something and it’s possible that Peele could still reach out for the actor to have some involvement, but when you’ve adored a character for so long, it’s understandable that he’d feel a little left out. Yahya Abdul-Mateen II is in talks to play an artist investigating the legend of the Candyman, while Teyonah Parris might potentially be playing his girlfriend.
Todd had previously stated that he wouldn’t take it personally if Peele hadn’t approached him for the new Candyman movie:
“I know he’s a fan,” Todd shared with Entertainment Weekly when discussing Jordan Peele, “We’re waiting just like the rest of the world. I’m hoping I will appear in the film in some form of fashion. Wouldn’t that make sense? But it’s Hollywood, so I won’t take it personally if for some reason it doesn’t work out.”
The new Candyman will be released on June 12, 2020 – do you wish Todd would be involved in the movie? Let us know!
