Probably to the chagrin of the Studios that he works for. It has been rumored that perhaps Tom, who is a licensed pilot, might actually do his own flying in the combat jets. This was intensified by what was thought to be a halt in production, with the plan allowing for Cruise to train to fly these high dollar aircraft. Not so fast my friends…
Entertainment Weekly has since learned that production has NOT been halted and civilians are not allowed to fly current day military equipment. This does not mean that Cruise cannot fly other aircraft, like the helicopter he piloted in Mission Impossible: Fallout. It does mean that Navy jets will not be included in that list. With Cruises willingness to put himself out there in the interest for film realism, he probably is disappointed but undaunted when it comes to other stunts that might be required from him.
Regardless of whether he actually “flies” his own jets or not, are you excited to see what Paramount and Cruise have in store for the long awaited sequel to Top Gun? Jump in the cockpit of your favorite device and let us know at GVNation.
