Bron Studios’ upcoming film Surrounded will star Letitia Wright, Jamie Bell, and Michael K. Williams. The movie will be the first film from Blackhand Media and will be directed by Anthony Mandler.
Surrounded will take place five years after the Civil War. The former Buffalo Soldier Moses ‘Mo’ Washington will travel west to claim a gold mine that was left to her by her late father, who was a slave owner. Mo travels as a man, as it was a very dangerous world for a Black woman to travel alone. During the course of the film, her stagecoach is ambushed. She then must hold a dangerous outlaw captive and must survive the bandit’s gang trying to free him.
Mandler stated:
“I couldn’t be more excited that Surrounded is the first film under my partnership with Aaron L. Gilbert’s Bron and the Blackhand Media banner. I’ve always loved the Western genre and the opportunity to tell this story from the eyes of a Black female during the Wild West is an honor.”
