Updates on the Upcoming ‘Uncharted’ Film

There are times where movies based on video games work and times where it doesn’t. We could have a Lara Craft or a Mario Brothers film. Sony’s third-person action shooter game Uncharted is getting the big screen transformation and will star the likes of Tom Holland and Bryan Cranston. Already off to a good start. Produced by Ari Arad and set to be directed by Shawn Levy, Levy offered some updates as to the excitement for Tom Holland to be playing the role as Nathan Drake and why Uncharted is being moved forward before Starman.

“I mean, as of right now, the closest to the starting line is “Uncharted” in that it’s a massive title. We now have a very good script and we have our star in Tom Holland. That is now subject to schedule and additional casting. But I would say as of right now, that seems to be the most near horizon. And it’s a movie I’m very excited about.”

In an article by Deadline, it was revealed that the upcoming Uncharted film will serve as a prequel to the Uncharted video game series. The first Uncharted game, Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune was released for the Playstation 3 in 2007. Since then, it had three sequels and a number of spin-off games. Due to the popularity of the video game and how well-received Tom Holland is, this would be a combination that would certainly bring forth fans to the movie theaters.
