As a surprise for fans, the streaming provider announced during the show’s SDCC panel that the full eight-episode season was currently available to view. Veronica Mars is a cult classic series by Rob Thomas that was canceled after three original seasons. Since then, it’s had a movie, books, and now a fourth season. Kristen Bell, Jason Dohring, Enrico Colantoni, and more return!
We will see the series return to Neptune where a series of bombings are scaring off partiers, as well as threatening the livelihood of local businesses. Veronica and her dad Keith are then asked to investigate. Creator Rob Thomas calls the feels of this series “hard-core SoCal noir”. He states that the format is more in line with the series’ original run on UPN and The CW in 2004-2007. This is opposed to the “give the people what they want effort” from the Kickstarter-funded 2014 movie.
Thomas has previously said that he’d be open to continuing the series after its fourth season:
“Although in saying that, I feel like I’m giving away that Veronica survives.”
