To say that episode seven of VisionQuest had me on the edge of my seat probably sounds like a cliche, but if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Episode seven took us on a roller coaster ride of not only emotions, but of mystery. You were meant to hold your breath every second until the show decided to finally let up on the pressure. And what came of it was a satisfying end that showed the audience how to properly write a payoff.

Not only did episode seven introduce the first synthetic man aka Jim Hammond, but also showed Vision finally accepting who he is and the relationship he has with Tommy. We truly hope they’re paying Paul Bettany well for all of the roles he’s playing in VisionQuest and how distinguishable he’s making each and every one of them. It’s so cool to see how Jim ties in with Vision, Ultron, Jacosta, and all of the other A.I.s. The history of making A.I.s and how they all intertwine into the larger MCU was done so well and never felt like just a random attempt at connecting the show to the broader world.
We’ve learned that each A.I. is based off a human in the past and in an effort to not ruin the big surprise, let’s just say all of the A.I.s have a human counterpart. The end of the episode legitimately left my jaw on the floor and ended with a cliffhanger that BEGS for it to be next week already. Who knew a show completely centered around artificial intelligence could be so good?

Watching Vision go on his personal journey this episode was genuinely satisfying. This Vision has struggled, for the entire season; with emotionally connecting to his namesake. Episode seven finally has the emotional puzzle piece connecting for him. There are many callbacks to WandaVision in episode seven and now we miss Wanda all over again.
There’s only one episode left of VisionQuest and it’ll be interesting to not only see how the season ends, but if there’s any indication that this will eventually connect to Avengers: Doomsday. Either way, Bettany, James Spader, T’Nia Miller, and everyone else are giving some truly great performances, and not to sound hyperbolic, but VisionQuest is shaping up to be one of the best post-Endgame MCU projects that Marvel has put out.
