We are so close to finding out who will be cast in Cathy Yan’s Birds of Prey that you can almost taste it. Reliable sources indicate we should be getting a casting announcement sometime in the coming weeks. One of those reliable sources is Twitter scooper @DanielRPK. Daniel mentioned on his Twitter page a few weeks ago that Warner Bros. had offered musician and actress, Lady Gaga, a role in the film as Black Canary. Daniel reported that Lady Gaga turned down the role but that does not seem to have stopped WB and DC from pursuing her.
Daniel has reported via SuperBroMovies that WB not only has offered her the role of Black Canary but they have also offered her the role of Huntress. Warner Bros. also seems to want Gaga so much that they backed a Brinks truck up to her door step – Why aren’t they doing this for Henry Cavill?
A couple of weeks ago Heroic Hollywood broke an exclusive that indicated WB might also be looking for a biracial actress to play Black Canary and that they wanted the actress to be able to sing.
Right now all of this should be taken with a grain of salt but I can say that Daniel is a very reliable source but things are always changing in Hollywood and Gaga has turned down the role before. Regardless it would be interesting to see Margot Robbie and Lady Gaga headline a movie together.
Birds of Prey will follow Margot Robbies’ Harley Quinn, Huntress, Black Canary and Renee Montoya as they set out to rescue Cassandra Cain from the Black Mask.
