While the DeLorean was made popular by the classic 80s film Back to the Future, the DeLorean car really never took off. In fact, the DeLorean only sold around $3,000 cars and had a reputation for being poorly built and all around, not a reliable car. You can read all about it by reading its Wikipedia page. Despite this, the DeLorean remains a collector’s dream – fun fact, the DeLorean had already shut down production by the time the Back to the Future film had come out. There were over 7,000 cars made, so yea, you can still get one of these nostalgic vehicles.

This is a bold move by the company. I understand that it was John DeLorean’s dream and certainly, the design was something not seen at the time. However, it looks like the new cars will still have the classic butterfly doors – something that doesn’t seem very practical for parking in crowded parking lots. This was something that caused the original car to fail.
However, I admire the company’s desire to do something bold. So, maybe the car of the future…is a blast from the past. What’d you think about this announcement?
