Which Characters from The Walking Dead Would You Want on Your Team in a Post-Apocalyptic World?

The Walking Dead was a TV show phenomenon. Running for 11 seasons and inspiring numerous spinoffs, it was more than just its post-apocalyptic storylines that appealed to audiences. While these gave it some “bite” (excuse the pun), they were the same angles that had been covered a thousand times before.

What was it that made The Walking Dead stand out then? Its characters, of course! From warrior queen Michonne to Carol rising like a phoenix from the ashes of her abusive relationship, they were real and relatable, and each had unique character development arcs that were fascinating to watch.

So, if you existed in the TWD world, who would you want on your team?

Eugene

When Eugene first came into The Walking Dead, he seemed like a stereotype: the socially awkward but brilliant scientist who was all set to save the world. In typical TWD fashion, however, this was turned on its head when the other characters discovered he’d been lying about his credentials.

While his choices have been questionable at times (remember when he defected to the Saviors?), he is a good person underneath it all. He’s a whiz when it comes to technology too, which would undoubtedly come in handy.

So, if you wanted a partner who was resourceful, intelligent, and would have a tech survival kit on him at all times (complete with portable Wi-Fi hotspot and power banks), he’d likely be a perfect match. You might even find that with his help, you could binge-watch some Netflix while the world burned down around your ears. He was also still alive as of season 11!

Carol

Carol had one of the most dramatic character arcs of anyone. Starting as an abused wife, she lost both her husband and daughter early on – and those losses changed her. While we’ll never forget the scene where poor Sophia dies, it was nonetheless formative to Carol’s development, turning her into the badass she became.

One big reason why we’d want to be on Carol’s team is that she’s one of only two characters that made it from season one through to the finale episode. While she arguably hardens and becomes ruthless as time goes on, she cares deeply for those closest to her and is incredibly loyal to them.

Daryl

When The Walking Dead began, Daryl’s character seemed like a bit of a non-event. He was a stereotypical selfish thug, thinking only of himself. If there was anything at all we liked about him, it was his crossbow-wielding skills, which doesn’t say much about his personality!

However, as time went on, Daryl became a fan favorite. He softened dramatically, revealing hidden depths and a deep-seated sense of loyalty. His relationship with Carol was one of the standout features of the series (and was so popular among fans that the show’s creators wanted a spinoff). If there’s one thing you can say for sure, it’s that Daryl would never leave you behind.
