Who Are Rey’s Parents? A STAR WARS Theory

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”23028″ img_size=”800×450″ alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]I normally do not get into film theories but I was talking to a co-worker this morning about some hot new rumors regarding who Rey’s parents are. Supposedly the new rumor is (POSSBLE SPOILER WARNING) …….. Han Solo is Rey’s father and her mother is not Leia because well Han is said to have cheated on Leia with another woman. I frankly think this rumor is absurd for several reasons. It tarnishes Han’s character and really makes him the lowest of scoundrels. Now Han and Leia did split up after their son turned dark side, so it is possible Han met someone else but cheated on Leia, I cannot see happening. If this really is in The Rise of Skywalker then this could spiral out of control worse than Rian Johnson’s The Last Jedi.

Now to my theory and I think it is something that fans might actually like. We saw at the end of Return of the Jedi, Luke celebrating with his friends after having defeated the Empire and the Emperor seemingly destroyed. Luke was able to rescue his father and things seem to be going pretty good.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”23026″ img_size=”800×450″ alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]Han and Leia get married and have a son. Luke decides to reopen the Jedi temple and train others in the way of the force and along the way he meets Mara Jade. Luke and Mara begin to train others and all seems to be going right but in the dark, in the shadows, evil lurks. The dark side of the force is slowly creeping its way back into Luke’s life. Mara can sense that danger is coming. The Emperor is not dead, in fact he is behind the scenes pulling strings that will eventually lead Ben Solo down the path of the dark side.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”23027″ img_size=”800×450″ alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]Things begin to unravel for Luke and Mara. The closer danger approaches the more she fears for everyone around her…..even her unborn daughter. Mara does not tell Luke about her pregnancy because she is not sure that is best. Mara knows what Luke and the Skywalkers did to the Emperor and he is coming for blood. No Skywalker bloodline is safe.

Mara leaves Luke with no warning.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”23031″ img_size=”738×389″ alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]Mara has Rey and raises her while she can but the dark side cannot be hidden from forever. Somehow the Emperor knows where Mara is and tracks her down. Mara flees to Jakku, the most desolate and out of reach planet she can find, and drops Rey off. The worst decision she can think of but the only option she feels she has to keep Rey safe.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”23025″ img_size=”600×354″ alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]During all of this, Ben has turned on the Jedi order, burned the temple and left Luke in a state of total disbelief and shock. Luke goes into isolation, cutting himself off from Han, Leia and the rest of the world. He is content with living his life alone.

The events of The Force Awakens leads Rey to Luke who possibly deep down can feel his daughter is looking for him and refuses to believe it or perhaps Luke is so cut off now that he cannot feel her at all and has no clue who she really is.

I think this is something fans could get behind. They have always wanted to see Mara Jade in the films. They do not even have to show Mara, just mentioning her would get the fans in a frenzy. There was a rumor that Mara might be in Episode IX so there is a slight chance she might actually appear. I think this could explain Rey’s strong use and knowledge of the force plus why Anakin/Luke’s lightsaber called to her.

This is just my theory though and probably wont happen. What theories do you have of Rey’s parentage? Please share your thoughts with us in the comments below or head over to Twitter @GeekVibesNation and let me know what you think.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
