Slight Spoilers
We ended Who Killed Sara? with a shocking reveal. Not only was there a dead body in Alex’s backyard, but Sara was clearly not the person we thought she was. How could this show outdo its first season? Easily – because season two is wilder, bigger, and more mysterious than season one. My jaw was dropped and just in the first season, I was at the end of my seat. Though, now; the question isn’t just who killed Sara? It’s so many other things.
Who Killed Sara? releases its second season today. I was given the first three episodes of the second season to review and I want to tell you why you should be tuning in to this second installment. In season one, we were presented a very obvious objective. We, the audience; and Alex (played by Manolo Cardona) were given the task of finding out who killed Alex’s sister eighteen years prior.
Who Is The Real Sara?
The season one finale threw a wrench in that. Not only are we finding out who killed Sara, but we are finding out who Sara really is. I can’t spoil it, but the answer to who she really is may shock you. It certainly shocked Alex; it seems as if he didn’t know his sister at all. Which, can be a little unbelievable considering they lived under the same roof, but considering their age and their different social lives, you could understand why Alex may have been oblivious to the obvious signs.
Where Season Two Picks Up
Season two picks up right where season one left off. Just like Alex, we have questions. At first, I wasn’t exactly sure that I was into the turn they made with Sara, but after watching three episodes, I’m sold. At this point, I want this show to just go all in and embrace the wildness that they’re writing. We get more mystery, more scandal, and more jaw-dropping moments.
The Lazcano Family Is a Complicated Family
The few things I can point out here is that I’m really unsure how to feel about Cesar. Season one painted him in an incredibly negative light and while I can’t say for certain (as I’ve not seen the rest of the season), but I’m thinking maybe he isn’t the villain we thought he was? I’m not forgiving him at all for how he behaves towards Chema or the way he continues to hurt Rodolfo. I’m just saying that maybe the blame for Sara should rest slightly less on his shoulders and more on someone else. Maybe…his wife, Mariana? Let me not say too much.
Going back to Chema and Rodolfo – I feel so bad for them. Really, I feel bad for every Lazcano sibling. The sins of their parents have really messed with all of them and continue to do so, without any real end or escape in sight. Elisa still tries to help Alex, but even she feels the impact of the curse that seems to stem from being born from Mariana and Cesar.
Clara’s motives are clarified a little, but still seem totally out there. I’m interested in seeing more, but damn if she isn’t causing enough drama in Chema’s life.
Rating: 4.5/5
The story succeeds in building the tension and keeping you encaptured. Even while some moments may seem totally outrageous and unbelievable, you’re still there for the story. And the actors – every single one of them is giving a great performance that deserves recognition. There’s bittersweet moments, action, anger, passion, and more in the start of Who Killed Sara? season two – I cannot wait to see what happens now.
