Why I Decided to Read Robert Jordan’s The Wheel of Time

I already touched on my interest in the Wheel of Time series in my post asking if the soon to come Amazon series could be the successor to Game of Thrones. But since then I have read three and a half books in the 14 book long Wheel of Time and I came to a conclusion; I need to document this journey because it’s going to be a wild one. So, I started making “video diaries” to get my thoughts out there and I had planned to release them all after I finished the series. Turns out this video would be incredibly long and it just didn’t make sense to wait. This urged me to finally create a subsection of the Geek Media Corps YouTube dedicated to book reviews; something I’ve had a desire to do for quite some time now.

With that done, I decided to do a non-review section called “Let’s Discuss” which talks about why I chose a book series to read or what I plan to read next. Basically it’s for anything book related that isn’t actually a review. I know it seems reading is becoming like listening to the ballgame on the radio for some, but it’s easily my favorite hobby and finding and connecting with others who feel the same way is the whole point of this video show. The Wheel of Time fan community has been very welcoming and the engagement level on my Twitter thread while running through the first three and a half books has been wild.

Without further ado, below is the video explaining why I made the choices to avoid the Wheel of Time series for so long as well as the lead up to making my decision to diving in this late in the game. Thanks for listening and look for the reviews for The Eye of the World, The Great Hunt, and The Dragon Reborn very soon, as I already recorded them upon finishing each.

The Wheel weaves as the Wheel wills.
