‘Wildcat’ Yolanda Montez to Appear on DC Universe’s ‘Stargirl’

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”1888″ img_size=”1280×693″ alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]DC Universe’s streaming service is already gearing up to feature some anticipated content on it before it’s even launched. We’ve already seen the trailer to the upcoming Titans show and we know that an adaptation of Stargirl will also be featured on DC Universe. While casting for Courtney Whitmore, the main character; has already begun, it seems that we’ll also be seeing a live-action version of Wildcat come to screen.

According to Geeks WorldWild, Wildcat’s version on Stargirl will be Yolanda Montez, the goddaughter of original Wildcat Ted Grant. After her mother was experimented on while pregnant with Montez, she gave birth to Montez in Mexico where she soon began developing superpowers. After learning to control said superpowers, Montez takes up the mantle of Wildcat. Having a superhero who is a POC will be a great addition to television and hopefully will have audiences who can identify and see themselves in Yolanda Montez.

Stargirl was developed by Geoff Johns, after his sister Courtney died in 1996. Johns will also be coming on to help develop the show. As far as any other details, we don’t have them at the moment, but it’s good to see that more original content is being added to DC Universe. Knowing that there will be a female-led show is also great news, and as soon as we find out more, we will let you know!
