After the rescheduled October 2 release of Wonder Woman 1984 didn’t go as planned, Warner Bros. is now gearing for a Christmas Day release date.
Currently, this would be the most ideal option for both fans and the studio, as December 25 is the last major release date this year. And studio execs are determined to make it happen. Apart from the fans, no one wants Wonder Woman 1984 to be released in theaters more than the people who made it.

“For the longest time, the only people who’d seen the movie were the people who’d worked on the movie,” details director Patty Jenkins in a previous interview with Variety. “We just showed our own agents. That was thrilling, to finally get to talk to people who didn’t know what the movie was. But it’s super weird to go from making a movie with such detail and being so excited for the experience of people getting to share in that with you, and then just going on to cleaning your house and cooking.”
It’s not surprising that Wonder Woman 1984 is one of the most highly anticipated superhero movies of the year. Not only would it be the ninth movie in the DC Extended Universe, it’s also the sequel to one of the most commercially successful franchise revivals in the superhero genre. In 2017, Jenkins pulled off the first real full-length, Hollywood-budgeted Wonder Woman film, giving actress Gal Gadot the breakthrough role of a lifetime. Indeed, while many other actors have attempted to take on the character in the past, only one other actor is known for doing justice to the role: the great Lynda Carter. Carter’s Wonder Woman is a now-classic series that ran on television via ABC from 1975 to 1979. Among other things, it became popular for a bad ass scene called ‘bullets and bracelets,’ a duel-like game in which two Amazons take turns shooting at each other and deflecting the shots with bulletproof bracelets.

From the classic comics to the old series and the new movies, Carter was the first woman to solidify this image of everyone’s favorite Amazon swatting away bullets. Nowadays, it is not just Gal Gadot that has immortalized this iconic image – popular online mediums have also gone on to celebrate this fierce, trailblazing feminine character. In fact, Bullets and Bracelets is just one of many virtual slots that are either based on or inspired by Wonder Woman that are featured on Foxy Bingo. The collection is a testament to the comic book character’s widespread appeal across different generations and media. Bullets and Bracelets features Lynda Carter’s Wonder Woman from 1975, complete with her golden lasso and iconic armor, which she uses to deflect ‘bullets’ when players hit the jackpot. While this online tribute is admittedly awesome, what would truly be righteous is if apart from a slot game, the ‘bullets and bracelets’ duel is recreated in Wonder Woman 1984.
If the trailer for the new movie, which includes lots of glimpses into Amazonian culture is any indication, we might just be treated to an updated cinematic version of ‘bullets and bracelets’ in Jenkins’ fast-paced style.
Who knows how the new movie will turn out? But one thing is for sure, we all hope Wonder Woman might return to save us this Christmas to finish this terrible year off with a bang.
