From the moment Spider–Man: Into the Spiderverse was released, it had success written all over it. Eventually, good reviews lead to more recognition and soon the Academy Award for Best Animated film. Because of this, a sequel was inevitable. To their credit, Sony didn’t waste any time announcing it. Back in November it was announced that a sequel was planned and that Joaquim Dos Santos would be directing with David Callaham writing the script. Now that work is underway.
This was revealed by producer Amy Pascal in a recent interview with io9.
We are definitely hard at work on the sequel. You can expect another movie.
