Dark Horse Comics is doubling down on the Mignolaverse in a big way in January, and today we’ve got two exclusive TPB cover reveals that show just how far these worlds can stretch—one bursting with pulp‑serial wonder, the other steeped in mythic, end‑of‑the‑world dread.

Coming in January 2027, Young Hellboy: Thrilling Sky Adventures lifts off with all the buoyant, high‑flying energy that makes this corner of the universe such a joy. The new TPB cover by Craig Rousseau leans into that classic adventure‑serial DNA—big monsters, bigger stakes, and Young HB (through his hero Scarlett Santiago) charging headfirst into trouble with that signature spark of reckless charm. It’s the kind of image that reminds you why this series remains one of the most purely fun riffs in the Hellboy mythos.

On the other end of the spectrum, Frankenstein: New World Volume 3 — The Speed of Darkness pulls us deep into the quiet, cosmic melancholy that defines this saga. The TPB cover by Peter Bergting radiates the haunting beauty of a world long past its breaking point, framing Frankenstein’s journey with a sense of inevitability and mythic weight. It’s stark, atmospheric, and unmistakably carved from the darker bones of the Mignolaverse.

Together, these two covers showcase the full range of what Dark Horse continues to build: one bright and breathless, one shadowed and apocalyptic—both unmistakably powerful.

His favorite hero, Scarlett Santiago, will need to team up with the mysterious Ghost Leopard to battle supernatural foes and evil men alike, but the larger-than-life comic book heroine may be closer to real-life than Hellboy knows!

Superpowered creative team Mike Mignola, Thomas Sniegoski, Craig Roussea, Chris O’Halloran and Clem Robins return for this third series of kid Hellboy’s adventures. This volume collects Young Hellboy: Thrilling Sky Adventures #1–#4 and bonus sketchbook material.

Frankenstein: New World Volume 3–The Speed of Darkness

Written by Mike Mignola, Christopher Golden, and Thomas Sniegoski. Art by Peter Bergting. Colors by Michelle Madsen. Letters by Clem Robins.

Drawn by visions of Liz Sherman with urgent pleas to save the world from a second destruction, Frankenstein and young Lilja race against time—and evil forces with their own horrifying ambitions—to find her and save the planet.

The end of the new world could come sooner than they think—and only they can stop it. Called by Liz Sherman in visions to save the new world, Frankenstein and Lilja begin using Vril energy to try and find her. But the earth is being corrupted by a parasitic and powerful evil, and their time to stop it is running out.

In the follow-up to Hellboy and B.P.R.D., Frankenstein and young Lilja travel across the transformed world to follow a prophetic vision. Along the way, they befriend mysterious people and fight monstrous creatures, all while navigating the metamorphosized natural world above. But the path set by her vision is not clear and easy, and there will be both legendary enemies from Hellboy’s history and new horrifying foes that will try to stop them.

This third miniseries of Frankenstein: New World features the return of creative team Mike Mignola, Christopher Golden, Thomas Sniegoski, Peter Bergting, Michelle Madsen, and Clem Robins taking readers to a future as dangerous as it is enchanting, from the world of Hellboy.

Collects Frankenstein: New World–The Speed of Darkness #1–#4 and bonus material.

Coming in January 2027 from Dark Horse Comics

The TPB covers for Young Hellboy: Thrilling Sky Adventures and Frankenstein: New World Volume 3 — The Speed of Darkness perfectly showcase why the Mignolaverse remains one of the most versatile, enduring, and boldly artistic worlds in comics. One bursts with bright pulp momentum, the other sinks into cosmic shadow. Yet each carries that unmistakable creative DNA that keeps readers coming back decade after decade. Huge thanks to Dark Horse Comics for letting us share these exclusive reveals. Make sure these volumes are on your radar. They’re proof that this universe still has skies left to soar and depths left to fear…especially in the Mignolaverse!
