Synopsis

“The new teen super-team unites as Robin (Tim Drake), Wonder Girl, Teen Lantern and Jinny Hex join forces to help Amethyst free Gemworld from those who control it. In another section of the strange dimension, Connor Kent and Impulse find themselves taken captive—but if this is really Superboy, why isn’t he putting up a fight with his friend and former teammate against the bad guys?” – DC Comics

Story

Young Justice #1 was a beautiful start of a great story from Brian Michael Bendis. Issue 2 expands on that, especially for the character Cassie Sandsmark (Wonder Girl)  in this issue. In my opinion, to have a great team story we need to introduce each character with a strong solo story with their own agendas or conflicts and Brian Michael Bendis understands that perfectly.

There isn’t much action in this story but it does compensate with great character interactions and development. We are also left with a big question at the end of the issue, that I will not spoil, also the introduction of the villain.

Art

The art for Young Justice continues to be beautiful. Love the contrast of the colors from earth, where it is bright and elegant, to Gemworld, where it has darker color tones to show the danger the team is in, but as a whole, you can still feel the same energy from  Emanuela Lupacchino and Patrick Gleason.

Overall Thoughts

Love the set up for Cassie storyline, character interaction felt natural and fun. Fantastic art from the art team. Everything felt smooth and clean.

Please pick up this issue today and if you haven’t read issue #1 of Young Justice please do. It is the start of a great story.
