Three individuals in animal masks and dark clothing stand outdoors at night, holding weapons, in a dimly lit setting.

Nothing brings a dysfunctional family together like murderous masked intruders trying to kill everyone. Let the bloodbath begin in this 4K limited edition of You’re Next. Featuring Matt Ryan Tobin’s stunning art rendering of the iconic character, Lamb Mask, on the SteelBook®, this collectible package will captivate horror fans with hours of killer bonus content — including all of the special features presented in the 2024 UK version released by Second Sight, and the legacy special features from the Lionsgate’s original 2013 Blu-ray release. With plenty of gore and macabre humor, this raucous countdown of kills is a horror collector’s dream!

    Video Quality

You’re Next has been given a wonderful 2160p Dolby Vision transfer in its original 2.40:1 aspect ratio presented from a new 4K remaster approved by director Adam Wingard and first seen on the Second Sight 4K UHD Blu-Ray release overseas last year. The film was shot digitally, but this new master adds a fine layer of digital grain to give a more textured, filmic appearance. One of the most obvious changes for this release is the tweak of the color grade that gives the film a bit more of a desaturated appearance to fit the cold climate. Even when dialing back the saturation, the application of Dolby Vision takes this film and displays every hue to its intended shade. Black levels are terrific with nothing in the way of crush present, and highlights show no signs of blooming. The disc always holds firm with its handling of contrast.

The new master features some nuances within the lighting, production design, and fabrics that harness a valuable amount of depth. The degree of discrete detail and clarity on display is ideal as the photography captures every unique bit of production design and every rivet of the costumes. This extends to more of the disgusting elements such as the gory makeup effects. The craft elements alone are a treat for the eyes, and this presentation represents them with great immediacy. This transfer displays nothing in the way of damage or unwanted digital anomalies such as compression artifacts, banding, or any other such nuisances. This world feels three-dimensional thanks to the amazing depth of field. This presentation is a great effort from the team at Lionsgate.

    Audio Quality

This 4K UHD Blu-Ray comes with a robust new Dolby Atmos track that captures this deliriously fun narrative with due precision. The unsettling and complex sound design is just as vital to the movie as the visuals, and this track brings it to life with impeccable skill. The film is overflowing with environmental effects that engage the surround and overhead speakers, making you feel like you are at the dinner party from hell. The movie showcases some visceral moments that add weight to the low end. The track has an intricate and keen sense of directionality with sounds always emanating from the appropriate channels. Dialogue comes through crisp and clear in the front channel without being overwhelmed by any sound effects or music. There are absolutely no issues with fidelity or damage to the track. This audio presentation is in top form thanks to Lionsgate.

    Special Features

This release is available exclusively at Lionsgate Limited. It is presented in a sleek new SteelBook that is quite fetching in person. The SteelBook features a removable clear slipcase displaying the title of the film in blood. The artwork underneath shows a pastiche of the masked intruders, and the rear is an animated family photo. The interior sports an animated depiction of a violent attack. Video of the SteelBook can be found at the top of this review.

    Final Thoughts

You’re Next is one of our favorite horror movies to emerge from the 2010s. When there is a new horror comedy, there is a tendency to take the horror side of the equation for granted, but there are so many thrilling moments that will leave you on edge even as revelations come to light. These moments are punctuated with some genuinely funny moments that feel perfectly locked into the ideal tone. There is a scrappy nature to the production that makes it such a blast to watch. Lionsgate Home Entertainment has released a 4K UHD Blu-Ray set featuring a first-rate A/V presentation and a terrific assortment of special features. If you are a fan of the film, this is not to be missed. Highly Recommended

You’re Next is currently available to purchase on 4K UHD Blu-Ray exclusively through Lionsgate Limited.
