Zack Snyder Says WB Pressured Him To Make 2017s ‘Justice League’ Funnier

There was so much drama behind 2017s Justice League film that it spawned a campaign from fans all over the world, became a viral movement, and there was a book written about it. Zack Snyder has been making the rounds to promote Zack Snyder’s Justice League and doing so he as opened up about working with WB on the first film. Let’s just say that it was not pretty on the set each day.

Zack tells Total Film that the studio constantly was pressuring him to add more humor to the film and to lighten the tone. They had what Zack calls babysitters on set each day making sure the film went according to the studios plan and not the vision Zack had in mind.

“Because I’ve never seen the theatrical version of Justice League, I don’t know exactly what from my movie is in that movie, But I have heard from people who were on my crew and then continued on [with Whedon], there was about an hour of reshoots. So I guess they used about an hour of my footage, and they pretty much touched every shot, whether it was for ADR or whatever. I think my movie is a chance to get into the characters and the story beats a lot more.”

“[The original plan] was absolutely being twisted during production, but y’know, I was there to fight them, Even though there was pressure on me to make it funnier and lighten it, I would persist as much as I could to keep the tone as much as I could. I added a bunch of things for them, and I was always careful to make sure I covered things both ways, so that it didn’t affect the movie story-wise. It was my hope that, in post-production, I’d be able to force my will upon them.”

WarnerMedia and HBO Max heard the fans voices loud and clear and approached Zack about seeing his vision be completed. The studio was hands off this time and the film will be released in the way Zack intended. It does have a new scene added which Zack shot last year with Jared Leto returning as the Joker. It will be an epic 4 hour cinematic experience that fans are clamoring for.

Zack says WB has no plans to ask him back for anymore DC films but if Zack Snyder’s Justice League is a runaway train and does record numbers then perhaps #RestoreTheSnyderVerse might become an actual thing. On March 18 fans all over the world need to make sure they support the film and support Zack Snyder on all social media channels and make sure to use the #RestoreTheSnyderVerse and #ZackSnydersJusticeLeague to let WarnerMedia and HBO Max know that you want Zack back in the DCEU.
