With the behind the scene photos and video of Joaquin Phoenix as the Clown Prince himself, it seems that those wary of this casting are slowly turning around. For those involved in the project, especially Deadpool 2 actress Zazie Beetz; there’s definitely excitement.
When asked about the upcoming film, Beetz expressed her excitement over the project and working with someone like Phoenix.
“I’m about to work on a movie with Joaquin Phoenix, and I am just such a huge fan.” Beetz revealed. “It’s just such an honor to work with him. And to follow him and his work, I think, it’s like anyone else. I’m human.”
When asked if she could reveal any details about the film, Beetz played coy — for good reason.
There hasn’t been any real news as to who Beetz is playing, but there have been rumors that she could be playing a love-interest to a pre-Joker, Sophie Dumond. Below is the casting description that could help give us some insight:
“Supporting female (27-34) to play African American or to play Latina. Not beautiful, has a hardness to her, a single mother living on the Lower East Side, doing the best she can, trying to make ends meet; worn out by the grind of the city. She understands how the system is stacked against her and the people in her community, how unjust it all is for them. She’s just trying to catch a break.”
Hm, well, Zazie is beautiful, but she can also play a kick-ass woman, as we saw in Deadpool 2 where saw her play the very lucky mutant Domino.
